Surrender
Surrender is our camp theme for 2016. We will be learning about surrendering and what that means in our lives.

We will have our usual fun Saturday afternoon activities that will suit everyone, as well as a chance to just simply rest and relax. One of our afternoon activities this year is tie dye. If you would like to dye a t-shirt please bring a light or white t-shirt to camp.

First time campers: We welcome campers coming along for the first time. For those who are coming as helpers, we welcome you with open arms! There will be a short seminar on Friday evening teaching you how to help, and you will be fully supported all weekend by your buddy, your cabin leader, and the camp committee. We even have an on-site nurse to assist. We cannot stress enough how much we value and need our helpers. During this one weekend many lives will be changed – but it cannot be done without you. You will be the difference to this camp! We do ask that first time helpers complete a police check form to protect our more vulnerable campers.

Pre-Camp Training for ALL helpers: We run a morning seminar specifically for our new helpers, on Saturday the 19th of March, at Elevate Christian Disability Trust 173 Mount Smart Road, Onehunga starting at 9 am and finishing at 12.30 pm. Regular helpers are also encouraged to attend. Please confirm attendance with Jean Griffiths on (09) 555 1947.

Children and Teenagers: This camp is for people of ALL ages, and therefore children with physical disabilities are more than welcome! We always have children at our camp and we will be running a children’s programme during the weekend to cater for them. As we are expecting a few Teenagers at camp this year there will also be afternoon activities specifically for this age group. Please note that we will be carefully selecting the buddies who will work with the children. There will be late nights, with an afternoon sleep on the Saturday. If you have a son or daughter who would like to come with their brother or sister, but does not have a disability, we would ask that you send a family member along to look after that child as we do not have the resources available to look after non-disabled children. You are welcome to come as a family, and we ask that you please call Jean Griffiths on (09) 555 1947 to discuss this.

Speaker: The speaker this year is Mike Potter from CBM (formally Christian Blind Mission). Mike is in a wheelchair and attends Mt Wellington Community Church.

Who we are: Christian Fellowship for Disabled (CFFD) is one of five ministries under the umbrella of Elevate Christian Disability Trust (Previously Christian Ministries with Disabled Trust). Our aim as a ministry is Equip, Educate and Evangelise. We do this through our camp, regular meetings (picnics, dinners etc.) and seminars in Churches. Elevate publishes a magazine called ‘The Encourager’ quarterly, and also runs a free drop in centre in Onehunga for three days a week during the school term. For more information please call the office on (09) 636 4763 or see www.elevatecdt.org.nz
