Wet weather didn’t dampen spirits at our camp at Kaiapoi last weekend (11 – 13 April). Besides those staying in camp, about 15 members came out for the day on Saturday. Vicki, our wonderful cook, fed us well, and Paula came on board as our excellent nurse.

Joan Parker flew down from Hawkes Bay as our speaker and brought excellent messages, giving her testimony, and admonishing us not to say ‘I can’t’ when faced with difficulties, but look for a way to get around the problem so that we can say ‘I can.’ Joan provided practical demonstrations as she removed her prosthetic leg, which was handed around, and showed us how she learned to fold and pack a sweatshirt in less than a minute when she was working in a clothing factory. She also had time to chat with people and answer questions. Thank you, Joan.

Well done, Dave for organising the camp.
