This Year we had Ruth Beale, who is the representative for PCFFD, as our Camp Speaker. The theme was on Helping – extending your arm to be there for others. It was great to have 4 from Northland and 5 from Waikato joining us this time.
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Another translation says we are His Masterpiece. That means we are a One off, unique, and made in his image to do the good works already pre-planned.
I think of how this camp epitomises the very essence of helping and going above and beyond. Nevertheless, it was a great reminder to us all, as to how we serve, how we receive, how to be thankful and being unconditional. Titus 3 gives a good summary of this. Before we received Jesus into our lives, a lot of us most likely lived a life of selfish motivation, disobedience and in expectancy of conditional favours. However, once encountering God’s transformative power, we receive his grace and desire to do good works with a changed heart.
We have been very blessed having the wonderful Shelling family lead us into worship for a number of years now. They were awesome!
Ruth interacted with the campers in discussion and teaching, which made us all think how much more we could be proactive in helping others.
We had the usual crafts and sports in Saturday on Saturday afternoon, but the highlight was the concert in the evening. This was presented by every cabin with either dance, song and skit with much fun and laughter. It’s so good having everyone participate and contributing, which is what makes camp a wonderful place to be.
