I'm an avid reader. I love to feed my imagination with stories and pictures of life, past and present. It's my way of gathering information. I can't do that with my eyes, but I can gain a great deal of knowledge about the world I live in through narrated books and speech software on my iPhone.
I remember, about 40 years ago, listening to an audiobook about Hitler's treatment of people with disabilities and those who believed Jesus was their Lord and Saviour. It made me consider that a similar scenario could happen again. So, I faced that fear and hoped I would be prepared to stand firm if such circumstances ever arose.
When we ask Jesus to be our Lord and Saviour, we are empowered to live this earthly life more fully, with Him at our side. We come to understand that this life is simply a stepping stone to eternity, and death loses its sting.
Then we can speak with courage about what Jesus has done for us, without fear or shame.
Romans 1:16 says:
"For I am not ashamed of the Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile."
I encourage you to stand firm in your faith. Do not be afraid or ashamed to tell people what Jesus has done for you. It is the power of God at work through you, reaching everyone who believes.
Then they too can share the Good News that their sins are forgiven and that they have received God's gift of everlasting life beyond the grave.
