Join a Mainly Music Online Session
This Mainly Music group is a "Sing and Sign" group for families with tamariki with disabilities.
Delight in singing with your pēpi (baby) and tamariki (child). Have fun learning together. Your tamariki will enjoy the play-time.
What is Sing and Sign?
Sing and Sign is a modified mainly music session. At around 20-25 minutes, it is slightly shorter than a normal session. We start and finish with the same songs to provide children and tamariki with structure and predictability. We use a lot of repetition. Some songs we sing unaccompanied so children can sing them at a speed that suits them.
Sing and Sign uses Makaton signs (based on NZ Sign Language). There are usually 2-4 signs per song. Pictures of the signs are given alongside the words.
Sometimes we use props (e.g. shaker, scarf) for a song. We'll let you know in the weekly email what you'll need for the day's session. At the end of the session, parents are welcome to stay online for a brief chat if they wish.
How can I join?
Can I be late or miss a session?
We know that life is often unpredictable. We don't mind if you join a session late and we don't mind if you can't stay for the whole time.
